Milestones!

July 4th, 2008

Yes even little old @eventtrack has them, we are trucking along and making progress and making some headway into the world of online web services so quite excited about that!

We are also about to hit a milestone, we already crossed over the more than 100,000 social objects collected and now we are about to pass over the 100 events tracked.

Each individual category of social objects is steadily increasing as well.

Thank you everyone for helping bring @eventtrack to life!

Tag Galaxy

May 26th, 2008

Surfing this morning we came across Tag Galaxy, a Thesis work being done. Unfortunately there does not seem to be an easy way of calling a specific tag via the URL the site is well worth a look.

taggalaxy_sxsw.png

The image is a screen grab of the SXSW tag, now this project connects just to flickr but still quite impressive considering the millions of photos there. During the last months though Eventtrack has learned that Picasa and SmugMug have large amounts of event related photos as well.

I’m still searching for a contact email from the student who created this to see if there is a chance for a direct URL call so I can easily combine this into Eventtrack, if anyone knows

Steven Wood of the Georg-Simon-Ohm University of Applied Sciences Nuremberg I would much appreciate a introduction.

They are in the wild!

Many thanks to Coté for the “push”

Alpha v0.1 AIR App

May 10th, 2008

With Adobe release of AIR the increasing number of users wanting an AIR app for a particular service has been amazing. The cross platform nature helps to bridge the gaps. We’ll @eventtrack has decided to give it a go as well. Learning Flex, AIR and ActionScript has been an interesting adventure and progress has been made. The following are some screen shots of where things stand right now. Here we are hard at work in Flex Builder 3Picture 1.pngNow it’s running live! Just login and you are ready to goPicture 2.pngThen select your event from the list of active events, you can also choose how many records to initially pull back, at the moment it’s only set to 20, 50 or 100.Picture 4.pngOnce your event loads you can instantly see how many various social objects have been captured as well as the latest results.Picture 5.pngNot sure when it will be finished but considering the Flex Builder 3 license expires in 14 days it’ll need to be before then, if at all.

iPhone WebApp Updated!

May 4th, 2008

In order to ensure everyone has the ability to participate, regardless of outages or network issues or connection issues we decided to add one additional means of participating in an event.

The bookmarklet is already available and now we’ve just updated the iPhone/iPod Touch Webapp to provide this feature as well.

First you need to be a registered member here on @eventtrack, then in the Webapp view an event.

@eventtrack - tracking people in the moment
Uploaded with plasq’s Skitch!

There you will see the option to “Participate”, login in and from then on you will get

It defaults to “Chat/Conversation” but you can choose as well from the drop down just like in the bookmarklet.

We’ve decided to go with the most excellent service, Get Satisfaction.

Taking a beating…

April 17th, 2008

We are currently taking a beating, it seems that everything is running 100% fine except for the connections to Twitter.

Either we have been blocked by Twitter or our host is having issues in either case we hope to hear soon from the folks at Twitter and based on that response we may need to contact our host.

Sorry for the inconvenience, it’s times like this that you realize running something like this service in your “spare time” with basically zero resources can be a nightmare.

Ohh our first contest!

April 2nd, 2008

I love contests and challenges so I decided why not have one here on @eventtrack.

I’ve had some “comments”, well we’ll call them “comments” anyway about the logo.

eventtrack.jpg

So the contest is a new logo design, the winner will receive the first (maybe the only) t-shirt with the new logo on it.

THe first submission is already in and I will run the contest until May 15, 2008.

Now I really need to stick with the calendar/search idea but it should also encompass the idea of “tracking people in the moment”.

Here are the Hex and RGB values for the colors I use.

  • #9FBFD6
  • #4C88B2
  • #106098
  • #0B4065
  • #052033
  • #D6B7A0
  • #B3774D
  • #994A11
  • #66310B
  • #331906

Picture 1.png

All submissions will be mine to use as I wish, due credit will be given for the chosen one.

To submit you simply need to upload your photo to one of the various photo sharing sites that @eventtrack is already connected to and tag it “eventtrack”.

Browsing the photos in style…

March 23rd, 2008

Thanks to the cool “Piclens” I’ve now added the ability to view all the event photo galleries in “3D slideshow” format.

Picture 3.png

For those who don’t have the browser plugin you can still check it out via the “lite” version.

Picture 1.png

For those with the browser plugin just move your mouse over one of the images and click the arrow.
